Finally, my first Contemporary Style house request. It has been more than a year since I got a request for a XX Century Style house. Today I’m sharing the Contemporary House – Digital Sketch, a house for an electrical technician and his family.

This house is for an electrician and his family. It represented a particular challenge for me because the owner has seen and also built a lot of homes. So he knew when things work and when they don’t. Also, this kind of technical people is usually practical and not too much into exquisite design. Functionality is their principal goal. Fortunately, there is always a wife to lean on 😉

With this post, I’m technically cheating. With these floor plans and elevations’ rough sketches, I got the approval to move on to the next phase, so I didn’t need to illustrate them at that time. You can tell by the difference between floor plans and elevations that I illustrated at two different times.

This was one of those tries to add shininess to the hardwood flooring. I still liked the idea even though not too much the results. The elevations show progress on the windows lights, the glows, and what I like the most, the background.

Finally, I started loving and defining as standard some of the elements. That foreground line with the reflections of the window lights, the hard shadows, finished textures, the background, and the windows glow.

That is how the Digital Sketch learning process has been going. Contemporary House – Digital Sketch will be the next post in my Portfolio. Soon you will see how it ended up being an actual building project.
