Mop Brushes – Tool Review

From the supplies selection I made on a previous post, now I post my Mop Brushes – Tool Review.

Firstly, I have to mention the elegant way that it is packaged. Maybe they are Da Vinci´s wannabe. Even so, I have to say they are doing a pretty good job.

So far these are the best pieces of brushes that I ever had. The Squirrel hair is just another dimension, it is incredible the difference between these and all that I previously used.

It is not just the material but the shape of the brush. They are thick brushes but they end up with a single hair tip. That gives a full range from broad to extra fine trace on a single brush. The way it holds the water up and how it drops it depending on the way you handle the brush over the watercolor paper is incredible. Mastering that technique now with the proper tool would bring almost anyone to a higher level. I hope I´m on that path.

After using and cleaning them with clear water they dry out recovering their initial natural shape. They even get back to hard like the way they come in the package. Initially, I thought it was a gum coat that would go away after the first use, but no. They actually always get hard every time they dry.

The smallest piece #1 is not as good as the other two pieces. It lost its initial natural shape. Never got it back after the cleaning as the others did, but who cares? with brushes like this, you don’t want the thinnest one, the joy is in using the thickest brush!

Don’t hesitate to spend some money on pieces like this. This is the Mop Brush Set I bought. However, from now on I´m after the Da Vinci or Skoda brushes. So I hope that my Mop Brushes – Tool Review help you to choose your next painting tools.

El primero que debo mencionar sobre esto es la forma elegante en que está empacado. Tal vez sean imitaciones de Da Vinci, pero aun así, tengo que decir que están haciendo un buen trabajo.

Hasta ahora, estas son los mejores pinceles que he tenido. El pelo de la ardilla es otra dimensión, es increíble la diferencia entre estos y todo lo que usé anteriormente.

No es solo el material sino la forma del pincel. Son pinceles gruesos, pero terminan con una punta de un solo pelo. Eso le da un rango completo de grueso a extra fino con un solo pincel. La forma en que retiene el agua en la parte superior y cómo la deja caer dependiendo de cómo se maneje el pincel sobre el papel es increíble. Dominar esa técnica con la herramienta adecuada llevaría a casi cualquiera a un nivel superior. Espero que estar en ese camino.

Después de usarlos y limpiarlos con agua, se secan y recuperan su forma natural inicial. Incluso vuelven a ponerse rígidos como en la forma en que vienen en el paquete. Inicialmente pensé que era una capa de goma protectora para el embalaje y que desaparecería en el primer uso. Pues no es así.

La pieza más pequeña # 1 no es tan buena como las otras dos. Perdió su forma natural inicial y nunca la recuperó con la limpieza como hicieron las otras. Pero ¿a quién le importa? con pinceles como este no quieres el más fino, el disfrute está en utilizar el pincel más grueso!

No dudes en invertir dinero en piezas como esta. De ahora en adelante estoy detrás de los pinceles Da Vinci o Skoda.
