Mid-Century House

Would you believe that this house started as a Modern Farmhouse? It did. In our weekly discussion, in an unexpected turn of events, the clients decided to go bold and change the style from Modern Farmhouse to Contemporary. That decision was shocking and exciting for me, because I was finally going to showcase my modernist work.

This is an essential house for me, both personally and professionally. It allowed me to show my abilities as a contemporary designer in the Pottsboro area, and since I finished it, the demand for this style has kept growing. The house is one of a kind in the whole area and has become a reference. I am deeply grateful to God, and to the support of my builder and my clients.

The design balances openness and warmth. Expansive glass panels bring sunlight into every corner, and a palette of black siding, dark wood, stone, and steel grounds the house with a sophisticated contrast. Geometric volumes and thoughtful detailing make it a modern showpiece with an effortless connection to its surroundings.

At the heart of the home is the Great Room, a vast and light filled space with a 24 foot flat ceiling and a modern fireplace, open to the kitchen and its large island. Expansive accordion doors open to the covered patio, so indoor and outdoor living flow together. The adjacent living room has a carefully proportioned ceiling and large windows that frame the views.

A floating staircase connects the foyer and the Great Room to the upper level. The upper level overlooks the Great Room, and half walls and railings keep it connected while preserving a sense of enclosure. A balcony, reached from the office, extends toward the front of the home as an accent over the main entrance. The guest bedroom opens to views of the patio, the pergola, and the pool.

Outside, pergolas, a sitting area, an outdoor kitchen, and a pool with a built in spa and a water feature invite relaxation and gatherings.
